Charles Taylor Sentenced To 50 years in Prison

Liberian war lord Charles Taylor has been sentenced to 50 years in Prison.

esiding Judge Lussick told Taylor his crimes were of the "utmost gravity in terms of scale and brutality."

"The lives of many more innocent civilians in Sierra Leone were lost or destroyed as a direct result of his actions," Lussick said.

Taylor showed no emotion as Lussick handed down what will effectively be a life sentence.

Prosecutors had asked judges at the Special Court for Sierra Leone to impose an 80-year sentence; Taylor's lawyers urged judges to hand down a sentence that offered him some hope of release before he dies.

Research Claims Only Only 30% Of Married Men Use Condoms With Prostitutes

According to the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, Prof. John Idoko, only 30.5 per cent of married men who reportedly engage in “penetrative sex with commercial sex workers use condoms”.

The study showed that out of the 1,396 and 459 married male respondent who reside in urban and rural areas respectively, only 137 had used commercial sex workers in the past six months prior to study and only 63 men had used a condom at the last visit.

He made the declaration during the presentation on PreExposureProphylaxis by the United States Mission.

47 Year Old Nigerian Teacher Faces Long Years In Jail For Allegedly Raping A 14 Year Old Student In The Uk

It has been reported that a Nigerian teacher in the Uk  has been jailed for allegedly  raping his 14 year old student. Keith Ogunsola, a 47-year-old science teacher from Banstead in Surrey, started sexually abusing the girl in 2001, when he took her virginity by raping her at a Croydon hotel.

Prosecutor Hanna Llewellyn-Waters told how the girl was intimidated into thinking no-one would believe her story against a teacher. When the pupil told Nigerian-born Ogunsola she wanted a boyfriend he "ripped off her clothes and raped her again".

But it is not the first time Ogunsola has been in court for sexually harassing a student. In 2008, he grabbed a 14-year-old pupil and stuck his tongue in her mouth while they were in his school office.

The girl described her ordeal, saying: "He put his arms around my waist and said 'do you want a kiss?'

Nigerian London Based Fashion Designer Nabbed With Drugs

 25 year old London based fashion designer Bisola Animasaun, has been arrested with 3 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in packs of chocolates. She was arrested during the screening of passengers on a British Airways flight to London. Thirty sachets of cocaine weighing 3kg was found inside two chocolate containers in her bag.

 In a statement made to the NDLEA, Bisola confessed to the crime. “This is a very big mistake on my part. I hope I will be given the opportunity to right my wrongs. They promised me £3,000 to take the packs of chocolates. Apart from the financial inducement, I should have resisted the temptation. It is a mistake that will never happen again,” she said.

Pastor Found Dead After Family Paid Ransom To His Kidnappers

The lifeless body of Pastor Anslem Iwuala has been picked up by members of his immediate family, seven days after he was kidnapped and N500,000 was paid to the hoodlums to secure his freedom.
Late Iwuala, who was on his way to his country home, Egberede Nguru, Aboh Mbaise local council area of Imo State, was abducted by gunmen along the ever busy Okpala-Mbaise road.
Narrating the family’s ordeal to newsmen, the deceased’s cousin, Mr. Odinakachi Iwuala, confirmed that his uncle was kidnapped by the hoodlums while returning from Aba.
Odinakachi disclosed that the family made frantic efforts to reach their bread winner, adding that his abductors finally got in contact with the family at about midnight of the ill-fated day and demanded N100 million.

French Entrepreneur’ Offers Kelly Brook 1 Million Euros For One Night Stand

Sexy British actress and Billy Zane’s ex Kelly Brook made headlines recently when a French entrepreneur  offered her 1 million euros to sleep with him.  Things almost turned ugly when the man tried grabbing her arm, but  was escorted away by her bodyguard.

The ‘French entrepreneur’ Nimrod-Frederic Kåmer , said to have offered Kelly 1 million euros to sleep with him claimed to be a virgin who solely wants to ‘knee her’.

"I want to sleep with Kelly I do not necessarily mean I want to have sex with her,’ said the man, who used the name Nimrod-Frederic Kamer and claimed to be 30.

He said: ‘I am very rich and money is no object to me, so paying a million would have been easy.

I personally feel this is a publicity stunt (it happened during the  Cannes film festival…everyone wants to get noticed , especially when you are promoting a movie). However if this is true, then the man is a jerk.

Man Arrested Today At Ministers' Meeting With Grenades

A man identified as John Akpabu was arrested today at the National Press Centre, Radio House Abuja, where ministers converged to showcase their performance records. He was armed with 37 rounds of live ammunition, 3 hand grenades and other explosives.

 The suspect who was arrested by security operatives as he tried to gain entrance into the Radio House said he was given the bag by a woman to deliver to someone in Abuja, and on getting to Abuja he discovered that the bag contained the explosive materials and he brought it to Radio House to give it back to the woman.
